Ka Huna Massage Philosophy - Available Gold Coast and Mt Tamborine

Ka Huna massage has been handed down through many generations of Hawaiian families.

It expanded as a system of spirituality, healing and personal development over thousands of years.

When the missionaries arrived in 1820 it was pushed underground as it was made illegal. It only began to re-emerge in the late 1980's when the beauty and richness of its teachings began to be taught world wide.

Ka Huna has a number of meanings in the Hawaiian language. Primarily it can be broken down in to two words, Ka meaning "the light" and "huna" meaning secrets or knowledge and wisdom beyond what we can normally see.

Underlying KaHuna massage is a set of philosophies that encompass our every day lives. These observations on life are an essential part of KaHuna massage and help explain how our world works.

IKE - The world is what you think it is. This concept relates to the idea that you can perceive your glass to be half full or half empty and that your experience is then based on that perception.

KALA - There are no limits. We limit ourselves by our beliefs and perceptions, but have the ability to change these and live outside of these self imposed rules.

MAKIA - Energy flows where attention goes. Meditation is a fundamental part of Ka Huna and Ka Huna massage is a form of moving meditation. It focuses the therapist's attention in the moment and to be totally present in the massage with the guest.

This follows the idea that our energy will go where our attention is. Similarly if you would like to change something in your life, then first you need to change where your attention is focused.

MANAWA - Now is the moment of power. The idea that you can't change what has happened in the past, but you can change the effect it has in the present.

ALOHA - To love is to be happy with. Aloha is the word for love. Alo means "to be with, to share and experience, here and now." Oha mean "affection and joy." Love exists to the degree that you are happy with the object of your love.

To be deeply in love means to be deeply connected, and the depth of that increases as fear, anger and doubt are removed.

MANA- All power comes from within. Huna philosophy teaches that all the power that creates your experiences comes from your own body, mind and spirit.

PONO - the effectiveness is the measure of truth. This principle says that what is really important is what works. There is no "ultimate truth" but what matters is what works on a pragmatic level.
