Lime Essential Oil
Lime Essential OilLime is one of the of the most uplifting of essential oils and is often used in aromatherapy massage blends as a lymphatic stimulant. It may also be used for the treatment of fluid retention and cellulite.
Lime acts as an astringent and is especially useful for oily skin and in the treatment of acne. Often used to counteract drowsiness and sleepiness, this is a fresh clean essential oil great for those times when you may feel like a siesta but need to be refreshed instead.
Lime essential oil is cold-pressed from the rind of ripe lime – the fruit of a small evergreen tree native to many tropical and subtropical regions of the world.
It is believed to have originated from northern India and adjacent areas of Burma. Lime reached the west coast of Central and South America via the Pacific Islands, carried by the Polynesians.
Limes were introduced into Europe by the Moors and subsequently brought to America by the Spanish and Portugese explorers around the 16th Century.
Distilled lime is used extensively in flavouring food and cold pressed lime is used in high grade men’s toiletries and perfumery.
Ripple uses not only Lime essential oils in its oil blends, but also uses diffused lime in its blends from the native Australian lime tree found on Tamborine Mountain and also the Kaffir lime tree whose leaves are used often in Thai curries. All the lime oils Ripple uses, predominately in our Thrive blend, are non phototoxic.
