- Try not to eat a full meal before your treatment
As much as we know you would love to dine out, its best to avoid large meals just before your treatment. You don’t want to be feeling full and bloated while on the table, because you will be focused on that instead of relaxing and enjoying the experience.
- Take off your jewellery before your treatment
You will probably do some shopping but be sure to remove and pieces of jewellery as the oils may cause them to tarnish. Also jewellery can limit the movements that the therapists is able to do on your arms and neck areas.
- Let the therapist know what you are after
It is important to let the therapist know what you are after as well of any strains or stresses you may have from exercise or activities. All that walking around may have been fun but let them know if you did any excessive walking or strained any muscles so that they can focus on that area and help you.
- Warm up your room with a heater or fire place
If you are getting a massage, especially in the winter time when places like Queenscliff get rather chilly, its best to have a heater or fire place going before the therapist gets there. No one likes to jump on a table when they are feeling cold, so ease the chill in the air by heating is up!
- Hop in a shower before your treatment
Having a shower before your treatments relaxes you mentally, as well as relaxing your muscles in preparation for your treatment. By the time you slide onto the table you will be so zoned out that you will drift into utter bliss for your entire treatment.
- Drink lots of water after your treatment
After your treatment you will need to drink a lot of water to help flush any toxins out from your body. Massage helps promote the release of toxins but it is your job to get those toxins out. Water is always great to drink anyway so drink up!
- Book in a few treatments
Sometimes it will take a few sessions to deeply address any issues, especially if you can only fit in a short session. Also issues may return once aggravated or stressed. Booking in a series of treatments, with the same therapist or company allows for you to have a therapist know your plan and treat you accordingly.
- Try not to do any strenuous exercise for 24 hours afterwards
Your muscles will be relaxed and so will you, so don’t ruin this feeling by booking gym time. Just sit back and relax and let your muscles recover.
