What Can We Expect During a Couples Massage?

Your Ripple therapists will arrive a little before your appointment to set everything up, including the massage tables, fresh towels, warmed oils, music and hot towel steamers.

Before you begin, we'll have a quick chat with each of you about the type of massage you prefer, your preferred pressure, any areas you'd like us to concentrate on and anything you'd rather we avoid.
​
Then it's time to switch off and enjoy your massages together.
​
Do couples massages have to be side by side?
​
Side-by-side massage with two therapists is fantastic. You get to enjoy the experience together, two experienced therapists, doing your couples day spa treatments at the same time.
​
We can also have one therapist treat you one after the other, which also works beautifully when you're away for the weekend and not in any particular hurry.
​
One person can have their massage while the other reads, has a coffee, sits on the balcony, goes for a swim or — quite commonly — has a nap.
This is also a great option if you have a bub or young children. A couple can still get a massage each and time out while the other one keeps an eye on the kids.

Both are awesome options.

Can We Choose Different Massages and Different Pressure?
Absolutely. You might be having a couples massage together, but your massages don't have to be the same.
​
One of you might love a firm deep tissue or remedial massage while the other would much rather relax with something gentler. You can each choose the massage style and pressure that feels right for you.

Your Ripple therapist will chat with you individually before your treatment about what you enjoy, any areas you'd like extra attention paid to and anything you'd prefer us to avoid.

So there's no need to compromise — you can relax together and still have completely individual massages.

What if our hotel room or cottage isn't big enough for two massage tables?

Don't worry — we can usually work something out.
​
If there isn't enough space to comfortably set up two massage tables side by side, we may be able to position the tables differently or set up in another suitable area.
​
If you're staying somewhere with a private balcony, verandah or covered outdoor area, that can also be a beautiful spot for your couples massage, provided there's enough room and the weather is suitable.
​
And if two tables simply won't fit, you can always choose one therapist and enjoy your massages one after the other.
​
If you're unsure about the space, just let us know when you book and we'll help you work out the best option.

How Far Ahead Should We Book a Couples Massage?

If you have a particular date or time in mind, it's always best to book your couples massage as early as you can — especially for weekends, public holidays and popular holiday periods.

Side-by-side couples massages require two Ripple therapists to be available at the same time, so these appointments can book out earlier than a massage with one therapist.

If you're planning an anniversary, birthday, romantic weekend, babymoon or surprise, booking ahead gives us the best chance of arranging exactly what you'd like.

But don't worry if you've left it until the last minute. Often we can fit you in, please just ask.
