Of Your Remedial Massage

Stiff shoulder? Seized up neck? Sore back? Relaxation massage can be a great style of massage if you are wanting to relax and de-stress, but to fix muscular problems you probably need a remedial massage.

In Australia, remedial massage therapists do extra training to obtain a diploma in massage.

If they have this qualification, they are able to offer health fund rebates on their massages. Ripple has remedial therapists in most regions.

Here are some of our favourite remedial massage tips.

  • Have a hot bath with Epsom salts before we arrive to start relaxing and warming the muscles.
  • Another way to heat up the muscles is with a wheat heat pack or hot water bottle. Apply to the area both before and after the massage to encourage healing.
  • Try to do some stretches in the days after your massage. Your therapist will be able to help you with suggestions on what stretches are best.
  • Rest after your massage –  schedule in some time to just relax and let your body restore.
  • Your body maybe a little sore after the massage. If you haven’t had a massage for a while and the therapist has done some really deep tissue work it maybe sore for a few days. Take it easy and schedule in some downtime.
  • Get regular massages – One massage often won’t fix the problem, and usually you will need a few a week or two apart to help fix the muscular problem.
  • Ask your therapist for a receipt so you can claim from your health funds. Ripple is linked to all the major and minor health funds and we are a member of the Massage And Myotherapy Association.
